Abstract: This paper mainly introduces the importance and implementation steps of benchmarking management in petrochemical enterprises. Benchmarking management is an autonomous safety management method that identifies gaps and develops improvement plans by comparing with and analyzing peers or leading companies in the same industry. Petrochemical enterprises should focus on establishing a benchmarking system, developing standards, implementing benchmarking management, and analyzing and evaluating benchmarking results in order to carry out benchmarking management. Through the implementation of benchmarking management, petrochemical enterprises can continuously improve and enhance their performance, achieving the goal of autonomous safety management. Therefore, petrochemical enterprises should attach importance to benchmarking management and incorporate it into their management system to achieve sustainable development and enhance competitiveness.
