Abstract: This paper expounds the definition and composition of safety instrumentation system (SIS). It also expounds the main features and the setting requirements and installation precautions for SIS. Based on the requirements of relevant specifications of the design and application of SIS, the paper combines with the actual application of SIS in petrochemical plant and summarizes the experience in the setting requirements of field instrumentation equipment and control system of SIS in petrochemical plants. It points out the independence requirements, sensor setting requirements, final component setting requirements, and control system setting requirements of the field instrumentation equipment of SIS in petrochemical plants. Then the paper sums up the precautions during the installation of safety instrumentation system.
