Abstract: In this paper, a pneumatic fine coke removal equipment for delayed coking fractionating column was developed by adopting pneumatic dust removal technology through flow field simulation, optimization design and experimental verification. This equipment can effectively reduce the fine coke content in the product of coking fractionating column. After the application of this technology, the pressure drop from the wax oil riser to the top of the fractionating column decreased from 176kpa to 144kpa, which had virtually no effect on the operation of the fractionating column. The average backwashing time interval of raw material filter in hydrofining unit was extended from 16.4 minutes to 48 minutes, and the backwashing cycle was significantly extended. The average fine coke content in coking diesel oil decreased from 43.57 mg/l to 7.02 mg/l. The fine coke removal rate reached more than 80% and the effect was as expected. Meanwhile, the technology has the advantages of low operating cost, small footprint, high coke removal efficiency and less likely to be plugged.
