Abstract: Under jet fire scenarios, emergency depressurization is typically employed for overpressure protection of pressure vessels. When using fire and gas system (FGS) as the initiator, it is essential to ensure the overall protection performance to effectively mitigate overpressure risk. This paper discusses the key factors influencing the overall effectiveness of fire and gas system overpressure protection under jet fire scenarios, employs software simulation to assess system coverage and calculate system availability and evaluates flame detector layout optimization strategies. This provides guidance for the design of overpressure protection solutions for pressure vessels under jet fire scenarios.
