Abstract: Natural gas is the second largest greenhouse gas after carbon dioxide and the leakage problem of natural gas in the oil and gas industry is becoming increasingly serious. This paper analyzes the causes of leakage at various controlled sealing points in natural gas processing and treatment technologies and proposes the adoption of Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) technology to reduce natural gas emissions.? By introducing several commonly used detection instruments, this study proposes that in LDAR (Leak Detection and Repair) programs, only by adopting multiple detection methods can leaks be quickly identified and natural gas emissions be minimized to the greatest extent. Addressing the limitations of current methods for estimating leakage time, this study proposes a novel approach to calculate leakage time. It adopts a practical measurement method to quantify natural gas leakage and provide a case study to offer reliable data for research on the greenhouse gas effects caused by natural gas leakage.
