CFD SIMULATION STUDY OF AIR INTRUSION IN ELEVATED FLARES WITH SEALING EQUIPMENT

摘要: 在高架火炬系统中,在排放结束或者小量排放时,筒体内的火炬气上升动量不足,常使得外界空气侵入火炬头内,引发闷烧、回火等现象,从而危害设备及运行安全。为预防这种情况发生,工业界的常规做法是通入吹扫气体,提高火炬气动量。同时为节省吹扫气体用量,通常会在火炬头根部设置速度封或分子封等密封装置,以更好地阻止外界空气侵入火炬筒体。一些火炬设计规范中虽然规定了安全吹扫速度,但没有考虑密封装备自身结构与吹扫气体性质不同带来的影响。文章利用计算流体力学,研究了高架火炬的空气侵入现象,分析了密封装备在防止空气侵入过程中的作用

Abstract: In elevated flare systems,when the waste gas discharge ends or runs at low flow rates,air infiltration often happens due to insufficient up-flowing momentum.This could lead to burnback and flashback and thus greatly harm the equipment and operation safety. In order to prevent air infiltration,the conventional practice in this industry is to inject purge gas into the system to increase the momentum of the flare gas. To save the amount of purge gas,sealing equipment such as velocity sealer or molecular sealer is often installed at the base of the flare header to better prevent the outside air from infiltrating into the torch cylinder. Although safe purge speeds are stipulated in some design specifications,the effects of the detailed structures of the equipment or the purge gas properties are not considered. In this paper,the air infiltration is studied by using CFD simulation and the effects of the sealing equipment in preventing air infiltration are analyzed. And the results can provide helpful guidance for selecting proper seal type and structure in actual industrial application.
