Abstract: The Middle East is renowned for its abundant oil resources; however, some oilfields in the region contain hazardous gases such as hydrogen sulfide (H2S), which poses serious safety hazards to the extraction and production process. This paper conducts an in-depth analysis of the hazards associated with hydrogen sulfide-containing crude oil in a specific Middle East oilfield and proposes corresponding safety protective measures to ensure the safety of oilfield personnel and the environment. Through a detailed study on the properties and hazards of hydrogen sulfide, as well as the existing safety protection measures, this research has drawn practically significant conclusions which may provide guidance and recommendations for oilfield management personnel and operational staff.
