Abstract: In order to reduce the emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from storage tanks, the VOCs emissions under different tank types and structures and different environmental parameters were calculated based on the review of the emission mechanism and characteristics of storage tanks, using the formula calculation method. The emission reduction strategies were sorted out from both source reduction and process control aspects. The results show that the emission volume of the floating roof tank is much smaller than that of the fixed roof tank. The emission reduction effect of floating roof tank using double-layer plate floating plates and welded floating plates is better, and the double sealing method of liquid inlay and edge scraper has the best effect. It is suggested that a crude oil stabilizing device be added first to reduce the saturated vapor pressure of crude oil, and a new type of fully compensated elastic sealing structure be adopted to reduce breathing emissions. Finally, the VOCs can be recycled through a combined process of one-stage condensation and membrane separation.
