Abstract: Petrochemical engineering is characterized by inherently high risks associated with materials, complex and demanding process conditions, numerous potential leakage sources with complex causes and extensive consequences of potential accidents. As a typical high-risk engineering category, rigorous identification and control of safety hazards are imperative to ensure stable and efficient project operation. Accordingly, this paper begins by analyzing the primary categories of safety risks inherent in such projects. It then focuses on dissecting and systematizing the key methodologies for identifying and assessing these safety risks. Finally, the paper puts forward highly targeted and systematic prevention and control strategies along with countermeasures specifically designed to mitigate the safety risks encountered in such projects.
