Abstract: The environmental protection problems in the production process of delayed coking units have become the focus of oil refining enterprises. This paper lists the environmental problems faced by the traditional delayed coking units under the increasingly strict environmental protection policies: the emission from the heating furnaces and the odor of the atmosphere around the units. Through in-depth analysis of the causes of the problems, the solution to the problem was found. Meanwhile, the paper introduces the work done in the delayed coking unit of Sinopec Gaoqiao Petrochemical Company to solve the environmental protection problem and its effects. It also puts forward the improvement measures that can be taken by the traditional delayed coking units in response to the new national and local environmental protection policies to ensure the up-to-standard discharge of water and gas.
